Nusantara Arts welcomes you to experience our incredible new set of Bronze Gamelan instruments at our new home St. John Grace Episcopal Church. This space now doubles as our practice location and performance venue! This is the first major exhibition of Nusantara Arts Gamelan since before Covid began, and we are ecstatic to come back in style, with bronze instruments, new compositions, and a fantastic guest artist. We're taking this opportunity to honor our new gamelan in it's new home with this "Selamatan" event which is a traditional welcoming celebration for friends and neighbors. Thank all of our sponsors and donators and make this performance a bit of a celebratory event. Join us as we embark on a new stage in our history!

Pak Wakidi Dwidjomartono, one of the finest living Javanese gamelan musicians, highly sought after for his incredible drumming all over Central Java will be joining us for this performance, in the US on a rare visit from Indonesia. Don't miss this opportunity to see a true gamelan master and living legend.

Repertoire:
We will perform compositions from the traditional Central Javanese repertoire, as well as a set of new compositions commissioned by Nusantara Arts and written by some of the most exciting Javanese composers now working including: I.M. Harjito, Pardiman Joyonegoro, and Ki Jungkung Darmoyo

Covid Protocol:
All patrons must be vaccinated and masked during the performance. Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination at the door.

Seating:

Seating will be spread out around the venue. If you want to site with your family and friends buy your tickets together, tickets purchased together will count as a "pod".

Wayang Kulit Projector Screen Fund

Make an additional end of year donation along with your ticket purchase! Nusantara Arts now has an incredible collection of 209 Javanese Wayang Kulit Shadow Puppets, these are some of the finest puppets that will be in use outside Indonesia. What we don't have is a frame and screen to project the shadows onto. Help us raise $3,000 for our shadow screen so our wayang performances in 2022 will be world class!
